Inkle, a US accounting and bookkeeping firm whose technology is built in Bengaluru, has acquired Finally's bookkeeping business in an all-cash asset purchase. The price was not disclosed. Announced on October 28 and covered again on October 30 and 31, the deal expands Inkle beyond venture-backed startups into more traditional American small businesses.
The scope matters: this is the purchase of a bookkeeping division, not the acquisition of every Finally product or obligation. Finally's official notice says its operator, Backoffice.co, entered an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors on September 8 and is being wound down. The notice confirms that Inkle holds the bookkeeping customer contracts, while other matters, including claims, outstanding balances and other services, remain with the estate.
Inkle was founded in 2022 by Anand Krishna and Ranvir Singh. It combines a US-licensed CPA practice with product, engineering and AI work in Bengaluru. Its model is to provide bookkeeping, tax and compliance services using its own software or other accounting platforms, rather than sell customers another standalone software subscription.
Inkle says approximately 100 Finally team members across the Americas are joining it and that bookkeeping clients will continue working with the same teams on its platform. Indian Startup News reports that the underlying transfer took place in September. The October announcement should therefore not be mistaken for a new transaction completed this Sunday. The company says the combined operation gives it round-the-clock delivery coverage across the Americas and Asia.
FundForge Insight: the India connection is an operating model, not simply an acquisition headline. Software engineers and accounting professionals working together can help a services business improve delivery. The test now is customer retention, reliable handovers, careful handling of financial data and service quality. An all-cash transaction alone does not establish a purchase price, valuation or integration success. This is business analysis, not investment advice.
