CopperPilot has raised $390,000 in a pre-seed round led by Neon Fund and opened Epsilon, the first version of its AI design agent, to hardware engineers. The announcement was made on October 27 and received further coverage on October 31. The US-based startup has an engineering team in Bengaluru and is targeting the slow, error-prone work involved in designing printed circuit boards.

The funding includes participation from US-based angel investors. CopperPilot says the capital will support product research, engineering and team expansion. Founded by Aditya NG, Mohit Bagur and Anish Harsha, the company wants engineers to describe a board in plain English and get help across component research, schematic creation, placement, routing and design checks.

The product works within existing electronic design automation software. October 31 reports by Indian Startup News and Elets CIO describe KiCad as its strongest integration, with early support for Altium and LTspice. These are company-described capabilities, not a guarantee that every design or tool workflow will work without intervention.

CopperPilot's own published evaluation covers 341 KiCad tasks across 49 designs. It reports an overall score of 83.2 for Epsilon against 54.7 for a general-purpose agent using the same underlying language model. Those are internal benchmark scores, not independently verified production outcomes. The company also acknowledges that routing on large boards remains difficult.

FundForge Insight: the opportunity for Indian hardware startups is less time spent on repetitive design work and avoidable board revisions. The test is whether the tool cuts rework while preserving engineering review. Automated electrical and design-rule checks do not establish that a physical board will work reliably in its intended environment. Manufacturing, testing and sign-off remain separate steps. This is a business and technology report, not investment advice.
