The Competition Commission of India has approved MIH Payments Holdings B.V.'s acquisition of certain shareholding in Navi Limited, clearing a competition-review milestone for an investment linked to Prosus. The regulator's October 30, 2026 release confirms the approval, but does not establish that the transaction has closed or that fresh funds have been received.
The CCI identifies MIH Payments as an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Prosus N.V. It says the acquirer does not itself undertake business activity other than holding investments in portfolio companies with business activities in India. The release describes Navi Limited as the holding company of the Navi Group, whose subsidiaries provide financial services through a single consumer-facing mobile app.
The $100 million investment figure belongs to the earlier announcement, not to the CCI release. CNBC-TV18 reported on August 19 that Prosus proposed investing $100 million in Navi in its first institutional capital raise, subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approvals. Inc42's report, updated on October 30, connects the competition clearance to that previously announced investment. It should not be read as a second $100 million fundraising announcement in October.
The short official release does not disclose the amount being invested, the percentage of Navi being acquired, a valuation or a completion date. It says the Commission's detailed order will follow. Business Standard's October 31 coverage also reports the clearance and identifies the Prosus subsidiary as the acquirer. Neither the approval itself nor references to Navi's reported IPO ambitions amount to approval of an IPO.
For India's fintech market, the distinction matters: announcing an investment, securing regulatory clearance and completing the transaction are separate events. Competition approval moves a proposed transaction through one regulatory step. A closing announcement or another direct company disclosure would be stronger evidence of completion, while disclosed use of proceeds would be needed to assess what the capital will actually support.
The FundForge view: treat this as a regulatory milestone rather than a new funding headline. The next useful signals are the detailed CCI order, any confirmed closing disclosure and evidence of how Navi deploys capital across its financial-services business.
