Higgsfield AI, founded in October 2023 by former Snap generative AI director Alex Mashrabov, has grown from a video tools launch in March 2025 to a $5.4 billion valuation and 30 million+ users across 238 countries, following a $400 million Series B in August 2026.

The Story

Higgsfield AI was founded in late 2023, but its core video generation tools didn't launch until March 2025, initially built for consumer-facing creative use cases.

The company pivoted decisively toward enterprise marketing, building a multi-model aggregator platform that lets brands batch-generate video content at scale rather than relying on a single proprietary model.

That shift accelerated growth sharply: annualized revenue jumped from $20 million to $700 million within roughly a year, with hundreds of DTC brands, including Dollar Shave Club, now running their video production through the platform.

The company raised a $130 million round at a $1.3 billion valuation in early 2026, then closed a $400 million Series B just eight months later at a $5.4 billion valuation, led by DST Global, Goldman Sachs, Liberty Global, and Intel.

The timing coincided with OpenAI shutting down its consumer Sora app in April 2026 after the product proved too costly to run at scale. Higgsfield, reportedly Sora's largest customer by spend, simply rerouted its architecture to other underlying models rather than losing capability — a resilience single-model competitors couldn't match.

Business Insight

Higgsfield's multi-model aggregator architecture, rather than dependence on any single foundation model, proved to be the structural advantage that turned a competitor's collapse into validation of its own approach — reinforcing investor confidence just as the company was raising its Series B.

The FundForge Take

Higgsfield's trajectory, from founding to a $5.4 billion valuation in under three years, reflects a broader shift in applied AI: as foundation models become increasingly commoditized and even well-funded ones prove economically unsustainable to operate, the more durable business may be the platform layer that sits on top — adapting as models rise and fall, rather than betting everything on one.
