Coca-Cola says it is exploring a stock market listing for the company that runs its largest bottling business in India. As of 29 October 2026, a filing of draft papers is reported as expected, but we could not confirm that one has been made.
Here is what Coca-Cola has said. On 1 June 2026 it announced that it is exploring a potential public listing in India of Hindustan Coca-Cola Holdings Pvt. Ltd. (HCCH) in 2027, with a sale of part of its stake. HCCH is the parent of Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. (HCCB), the largest Coca-Cola bottler in India. The company named the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange as the venues, subject to market conditions and approvals, and said it will stay invested after the listing. On its third-quarter call on 27 October, finance chief John Murphy repeated that Coca-Cola is exploring a potential IPO of its bottling operations in India and will give updates as appropriate. He gave no timeline.
The company going public would be HCCH, not The Coca-Cola Company. HCCB operates 14 bottling plants across 10 states, works with eight co-packers, and has more than 2,000 distributors reaching over 1.7 million customers, according to Coca-Cola's June announcement. Its brands include Coca-Cola, Thums Up, Sprite, Fanta, Limca and Maaza. In July 2025, Jubilant Bhartia Group bought a 40% stake in HCCH. The Economic Times puts that deal at nearly Rs 12,500 crore.
Some details come only from unnamed sources. The Economic Times, citing people aware of the matter, reports that HCCH is expected to file its draft red herring prospectus later this week. It also reports a target of about $1 billion, mainly an offer for sale by existing shareholders, at a valuation of about $10 billion. Fortune India, citing a source, reports the same size and valuation. Coca-Cola has not confirmed these figures. Reports also differ on which banks are advising, so we do not list them. Coca-Cola's own announcement names Rothschild & Co.
The business backdrop is strong. In its third-quarter results, Coca-Cola said global unit case volume grew 5%, led by India, China, Mexico and Brazil. Volume in its bottling investments segment grew 8%, driven mainly by India and South Africa. Chief executive Henrique Braun said India's top 10 brands each grew in double digits, as reported by the Hindu BusinessLine.
For founders and investors, the useful lesson is about sequence. A company announcing that it is exploring a listing is early. The next confirmed step would be a filing with the Securities and Exchange Board of India, which would show the offer structure and financials. Pepsi's main Indian bottler, Varun Beverages, has been listed for about a decade, according to the Economic Times. This article is not investment advice.
